Search defaults to Photon's public instance (photon.komoot.io). Map search is instant and local, but typing still sends a request per pause. The public instance has fair-use limits, and production apps should self-host or use a keyed provider.

docs/concepts/controls.md#search: self-hosting Photon, choosing MapTiler, Mapbox or Google instead, and what each costs. - Retry, backoff and graceful degradation on HTTP 429 in
PhotonGeocoder: fall back to map and offline results silently, as already happens for network errors. - An optional provider chain (try A, then B).
