Apple Maps' Look Around lets you drop into interactive street-level imagery from a place card or by tapping the binoculars button, and pan, zoom and move along the street. ts-maps has nothing equivalent.
Scope
- A
LookAroundviewer: a full-bleed, 360° panorama renderer (WebGL equirectangular or cubemap), with smooth transitions between neighbouring captures along a street. - A pluggable imagery provider interface, like the geocoder/directions providers. Candidates: Mapillary (API key), Panoramax (open), KartaView.
- Coverage shown on the map while choosing: a blue line overlay on streets with imagery, as Apple does.
- A small preview thumbnail on the search place card (
SearchControl) that opens the viewer, plus a map control button. - A mini-map inset showing where you are and which way you're looking, kept in sync with the viewer.
- Framework bindings in parity (
<LookAround>in React, Vue/Nuxt, Svelte, Solid and stx; a prop on React NativeMapView).
Notes
- Imagery providers have their own attribution and rate limits; the provider interface should carry attribution.
- Needs tests for the provider adapters and viewer navigation logic, plus a playground page.
