S3-001: Establish the Gold Edition fidelity specification

Parent and ownership

Parent epic: https://github.com/stacksjs/the-settlers-iii-remake/issues/5 Source owner: stacksjs/the-settlers-iii-remake. Master roadmap: https://github.com/stacksjs/the-settlers-iii-remake/issues/4.

Problem and observable result

Identify edition and revision differences. Enumerate every supported system and content pack. Mark unsupported or unverified claims explicitly.

The current application is a browser prototype. Passing the Riverlands campaign does not establish original-game or native parity. This issue is complete only when its stated behavior has retained evidence.

Evidence and interfaces

Verified source observations and decoded content enter immutable, versioned catalogs. Distinguish original facts, reference-remake behavior, and engineering decisions.

Pin the inspected revisions and fixture hashes in the implementation evidence. Original-game observations govern rules and timing. JSettlers is implementation evidence, not an authoritative balance specification. Unknown values remain explicitly unverified.

Acceptance criteria

  • Identify edition and revision differences.
  • Enumerate every supported system and content pack.
  • Mark unsupported or unverified claims explicitly.
  • The visible result agrees with the underlying simulation or platform state, including failure paths.
  • Tests exercise the maintained public interface and retain reproducible fixtures or execution receipts.

Test matrix

  • Compare base, Mission CD, and Amazons profiles.
  • Trace each claimed rule to pinned evidence.
  • Exercise invalid input, cancellation or interruption, and repeated execution where this interface permits them.
  • Verify determinism/conservation for simulation changes and resource ownership/disposal for platform changes.
  • Run owning-repository lint, relevant type checks and tests. Capture actual native output for native capability claims.

Scope constraints

Implement this behavior as a complete verifiable slice. Do not silently expand into adjacent tickets or substitute simplified gameplay. Keep the shared TypeScript simulation, shared stx signals, and ts-css conventions. Native gameplay and HUD must not depend on a WebView. HomeOS reuse must not introduce a kernel dependency into the game. Existing unrelated edits and authored guidance must be preserved.

Blocked by

None. This issue is on the initial frontier.

Upstream release and adoption

Application behavior belongs here. If a reproduction identifies a framework defect, repair and release its owning source first, update Stacks where affected, then install the verified packages here.

No node_modules edits, copied runtimes, generated-source string patches, fabricated globals, successful no-op implementations, or skipped release gates. Push tested conventional commits as Chris to the owning origin/main without coauthor trailers or force pushes.

Completion evidence

  • Implementation commits and relevant upstream issue links.
  • Exact checks and results, fixture hashes, and screenshots/native execution evidence where applicable.
  • Published package versions, downstream lockfile identity, and release receipts when affected.
  • Remaining limitations stated explicitly. Partial work does not close this issue.

Published the detailed fidelity contract in e1a883a.

It classifies manual statements, original observations, engineering decisions and unknowns; maps all 107 issue IDs; defines state/conservation boundaries; and lists the edition-sensitive numeric and content evidence still required. All eight pinned manual hashes were independently rechecked. Coverage found no missing or duplicated issue IDs; documentation lint passed.

S3-001 remains open. Exact original executable/patch identities, edition applicability and complete content/mission manifests remain unverified. No original executable was run and no redistribution rights are claimed. The 72 mission slots plus tutorial slot remain a provisional reconciliation checklist.

Implemented in 55cea5339f660c2827335b53e6d584c2c56cd8b3, with the completion receipt.

Catalog 1.0.0 records four edition profiles, all three content packs, ten documentary feature records, 107 required systems and six delivery targets. Comparisons retain unverified applicability rather than asserting absence in earlier revisions. Validation and reporting distinguish manual evidence, engineering decisions and missing original-build identities. Source verification checks exact pinned file hashes and documentary section anchors.

On the integrated commit: frozen Bun 1.4.2 install passed; Pickier lint scanned 280 files with zero errors or warnings; application, tools and stx type checks passed; all 30 unit tests and 2,564 assertions passed; all five pinned source hashes and referenced documentary sections verified. Independent review found no actionable issues and independently reran the six fidelity tests and source verification.

This completes the documentary specification. Exact original executable identities, patch applicability, runtime observations, complete original manifests and redistribution rights remain explicitly unverified and belong to the dependent evidence/content issues. No original gameplay or native presentation parity is claimed.
