Hush quietly manages Focus while you share your screen, with a compact native menu-bar interface and a new app icon.

  • Fix native sharing detection and recovery when a client temporarily stops answering Accessibility queries.
  • Keep an existing Focus unchanged; automatically enable and release Focus only when Hush owns it.
  • Fix menu-bar object text and improve setup, status, and error feedback.
  • Build, provision, sign, notarize, and package through Buddy and Pantry, using Buddy-encrypted production configuration.

Live verification passed nine real idle/start/stop scenarios across Zoom, Teams, Dia, Discord, Slack, and Google Meet, including Chrome and Dia tab capture, preservation of an existing Focus, and automatic Focus activation/release after background idle.

The signed macOS app is 2.08 MB; the notarized DMG is 1.45 MB. Requires macOS 13 or later.

This release uses com.stacksjs.hush. Upgrading from the old org.stacksjs.hush identity may require macOS to register its Screen Recording, Accessibility, and Focus permissions again. Focus control uses the Hush Focus On and Hush Focus Off shortcuts.

Hush 0.2.0 runs as a native macOS menu bar app, built with STX, TypeScript, and Craft.

  • Detects screen sharing in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Dia, Discord, Slack, and Google Meet.
  • Preserves an existing Focus and uses the configured Hush Focus shortcuts for automatic activation and release.
  • Keeps sharing detection and Focus control responsive while the app is in the background.
  • Replaces the Swift application with Buddy-managed development, compilation, and packaging.

Screen Recording, Accessibility, Focus-status authorization, and the “Hush Focus On” / “Hush Focus Off” shortcuts are required for the corresponding native features.

The signed, notarized app is 1.42 MiB. The release artifact passed live sharing checks with all six clients, preservation of an existing Focus, and automatic Focus activation/release after more than a minute in the background.
