what is going on with all these automated and closed PRs?

This is an incredible amount of distracting noise on this important node.js issue thread. What is going on?

These are from buddy-bot, it's used to keep dependencies up to date. It runs regularly and bumps non-major package dependencies so that this doesn't have to be done manually.

It's the same as renovate, which you can find in a LOT of big open source repos as well, see nuxt for example. Call it absurd but automating this when maintaining many repos is the better choice imo

To be specific, the bug/improvement in buddy-bot was that it did not update existing PRs and instead created a new PR while closing the old one.

And in all reality, it wasn't a bug and I wanted to make it look like this repo had tons of collaborative PRs, hoping people would not notice! 😂 /s

I don't have any problems with automation. But you're missing (or deliberately ignoring?) the clear context here, which is that literally HUNDREDS of these all had the same copied PR message, meaning any mentions in it were repeated over and over. Surely I don't have to justify why I call that absurd.
